The Firebird Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing the development of the Firebird relational database as an open-source project. Our mission is rooted in fostering innovation, collaboration, and sustainability within the Firebird ecosystem.

As outlined in our Articles of Association, the Foundation’s purpose includes:

  • Supporting the Development of Firebird: We actively support the ongoing development of the Firebird database and related management systems to ensure its future as a powerful, open-source solution.
  • Managing Resources for Growth: The Foundation is responsible for raising and managing funds through dues, subscriptions, donations, and sponsorships. These resources are disbursed as grants to fund the development of Firebird and its surrounding infrastructure.
  • Fostering Collaboration: We encourage partnerships with individuals, non-profit organizations, and commercial companies who are involved in or plan to contribute to the development, support, and promotion of Firebird and its related projects.
  • Building a Cooperative Community: We promote cooperation with all individuals and organizations that share our vision, working together to ensure Firebird’s continued success as a global, open-source project.

Through these efforts, the Firebird Foundation plays a key role in maintaining a vibrant, sustainable community around Firebird, ensuring that it remains a leading choice for relational database solutions worldwide.
